Conference theme: The Rhythm of Revolution

Higher education professionals know that change is possible, but it requires a clear vision, the courage to challenge convention and the collective will to act. That is why the theme for the 2026 EAIE Conference and Exhibition is ‘The Rhythm of Revolution’, a call to tune into the momentum of transformation and to help shape its direction with purpose and care. In higher education, where knowledge meets possibility, we have a unique role to play in this rhythm of change. This theme invites us to reflect on our responsibilities as educators.

Sustainable initiatives at the conference

At the EAIE, we want to contribute to a clean future by choosing, whenever possible, sustainable and green venues, suppliers and products. The EAIE Conference and Exhibition has an impact on the environment, but this is also where we can make the biggest difference. Here’s what we do to support this goal:

Work with sustainable venues

The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) is committed to reducing the environmental impact of events held in its venues. This includes committing to a "Net Zero 2030" target, focusing on sustainability through renewable energy, waste reduction, and sustainable catering.

Key initiatives include using 100% renewable electricity, a 200 km radius food-sourcing strategy, and implementing ISO 20121 standards to reduce event environmental impacts.

Embrace fair trade and sustainable conference items

  • Provide biodegradable reusable coffee cups
  • Use ecological printing paper
  • Encourage reusable water bottles and provide water stations around the venue
  • Cooperate with Township, a company that produces the conference tote bag and supports female entrepreneurship in South Africa

Encourage participants to make greener choices

  • Offer participants complimentary public transportation passes for the duration of the conference week.
  • Promote train travel in our communications with participants and encourage reducing CO2 emissions with CANIE.
  • Offer participants an ‘I travelled green’ sticker, both digitally and in-person to show they chose to travel sustainably.
  • Share the #EAIEgreengoals hashtag and encourage participants to use it to spread the word about their own actions.
  • Teach participants about sustainable practices at our dedicated Sustainability Hub at the conference.
  • Organise a Netwalking activity in collaboration with local non-profits where participants spend afternoon of giving back through clean-up activities in the host city.
