The design of Collaborative Online International Learning projects is often not based on empirical research, which can lead to educators making uninformed decisions when designing courses. This can result in suboptimal COIL experiences for students. In this interactive session, we will not only explore how COIL can be designed using knowledge and (new) research from the field, but presenters and participants will also collaborate to design the optimal COIL experience.
