Study abroad fairs across Europe are constantly evolving to meet shifting student needs and institutional realities. This session will explore how Leiden University, KU Leuven and the University of Helsinki have each reimagined their fairs, balancing decentralisation and central coordination, and ensuring inclusion and engagement, to create meaningful, student-driven experiences while questioning and transforming the traditional fair format.
Carine de Wilde is the Senior International Relations Officer at Leiden University, where she plays a key role in advancing internationalisation, global partnerships, and student mobility initiatives. With extensive experience in international higher education, she has built and managed collaborations with universities around the world, supported the development of exchange programmes, and helped shape institutional strategies for global engagement.
Committed to creating meaningful international opportunities for students and staff, Carine combines strategic insight with a practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing higher education institutions in an increasingly interconnected world. Her work focuses on fostering inclusive international partnerships, strengthening mobility pathways, and supporting innovation in international education.
Alongside her professional role, Carine is a volunteer trainer for SchuldHulpMaatje, a Dutch organisation that supports people facing financial difficulties. Through this work, she trains volunteers to guide individuals towards greater financial resilience and self-reliance, reflecting her broader commitment to empowerment, community engagement, and lifelong learning.
