Eva Haug

Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands

Eva Haug is Educational Advisor for Curriculum Internationalization and COIL/virtual exchange at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. She’s an elected member of the EAIE Thematic Committee Teaching, Learning & Curriculum. Eva’s been volunteering for the EAIE since 2018 and in 2024 she received the EAIE award for Outstanding Contribution. She wrote two Pathways to Practice publications; one on IaH for International Officers and the second on Getting started with virtual exchange. Eva’s a research fellow at the University of the Free State (SA) and serves on the Advisory Board of SUNY COIL, AFRICOIL and COILectiVE . Eva has built a sustainable COIL practice at the AUAS, offering thousands of students the opportunity to experience international and intercultural teamwork. She has presented about COIL at many conferences and is regularly invited by universities to provide professional development for IoC and COIL.

Kherieh Rassas

An Najah National University and UNIMED, Palestinian Territory

Prof. Kherieh Rassas is a distinguished leader in higher education and science diplomacy. In 2023, she was elected President of the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), overseeing 190+ universities, and spearheaded the Technical Educational Support Initiative (TESI) for sustainable education in conflict areas.
Since 2005, she has served as Vice President for International Affairs at An-Najah National University, where she founded the Faculty of Optometry and the Global Health Institute. An accomplished Professor of Optometry and Eye Health Specialist , she also holds an LLB in Law and a PhD in Optometry and Visual Science.
A former Senior Advisor to the Palestinian Prime Minister (2013–2019), her leadership extends to boards at An-Najah University Hospital and Hijjawi Vocational College. She is also an international expert and mentor for the Global University Network for Innovation.
Her contributions have earned her prestigious honors, including being decorated as a Serving Sister by Queen Elizabeth II and knighted with the National Order of Merit by President Emmanuel Macron. A fluent polyglot in Arabic, English, French, and Hebrew, and a working knowledge of Italian and German. Prof. Rassas remains a dedicated advocate for global health and educational equity.

Piet Van Hove

HEROES Alliance, Belgium

Piet Van Hove is the Secretary-General of the HEROES European University Alliance, on behalf of the coordinating institution, Thomas More University of Applied Sciences in Belgium. He is the immediate past president (2022-2024) of the EAIE. 
Piet has worked on different aspects of internationalisation of higher education (mobility, capacity building, strategic networking, ...) throughout his whole career, after graduating from law school in 1995. He was the head of the International Relations Office of the University of Antwerp for 15 years. 
Piet has been active in the leadership of several professional associations and nonprofits at the national and international level, such as Flanders Knowledge Area, ACA and the EAIE. He is currently a board member of the NGO Apopo ('training rats to save lives') and of ILEP Ltd, which is the organisation implementing Taith, the learning mobility programme for Wales. He presents frequently on the different aspects of internationalisation of higher education.
