Join the Opening Plenary to start the week with fresh perspectives, shared energy and a deeper understanding of how we can respond to change with openness and purpose. Following the welcome address by the EAIE and the city of Glasgow, you will hear from our opening keynote speaker Beau Lotto, a world-renowned neuroscientist and three-time mainstage TED speaker.
Keynote speaker: Beau Lotto
In a world of accelerating change, the greatest challenge is not what we know, but how we respond to what we don’t know. Drawing on more than three decades of neuroscience research, Beau Lotto explores why knowledge alone is no longer enough, and why our ability to evolve—to become evolvable—has become one of the defining capacities of our time. International education is uniquely positioned to cultivate this capacity. By immersing us in unfamiliar cultures, perspectives and ways of thinking, it does more than expand what we know: it transforms how we learn, connect and become. It can move us from being resilient—returning to what we were—to becoming agile, adaptable and ultimately stronger because of change.
Beau Lotto is a neuroscientist, entrepreneur and world-renowned perception expert whose work bridges neuroscience, design, technology and human behaviour. A three-time TED mainstage speaker with over 10 million views, he is the author of Deviate: The Science of Seeing Differently and has shared his insights with the World Economic Forum, Google's Zeitgeist and TED. He was nominated for the MacArthur Genius Award and the Josef Albers Prize for Disruptive Innovation.
