Karen has a background in communication and later specialized in teacher education and training. She worked for an educational organization supporting teachers and student teachers, where she developed learning materials for primary, secondary, and higher education with a focus on global citizenship and global & intercultural learning.
She has experience as an intercultural trainer, delivering training sessions at colleges and universities across Flanders. She currently works at Ghent University as a member of the International Mobility Team, where she supports student mobility processes, advises outgoing students, and facilitates exchange opportunities for students with partner institutions outside the Erasmus+ program countries. She also provides intercultural preparation sessions for outgoing exchange students.
Karen is involved in the European project PADMICA, coordinated by Ghent University. Her professional interests include intercultural competence, internationalization in higher education, and preparing and debriefing students for meaningful international mobility experiences.
Thibault Hoogstoel has been a policy advisor at Ghent University's International Relations Office since 2022. Drawing on his background in secondary education and EU studies, he focuses on the internationalisation of the curriculum. He supports lecturers and study programmes in creating opportunities for students to develop international and intercultural competencies, both at home and abroad. Thibault coordinates the PADMICA project and manages key initiatives such as Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility, Blended Intensive Programmes, seasonal schools, and online learning formats in an international context.
Lisa Kattinger is the Erasmus+ Outgoing Coordinator at Marburg University and has since 2018 managed the preparation, administration and debriefing of Erasmus+ outgoing mobilities. Her background in cultural studies equips her to comprehensively consider the mobility process as an experience that can be enhanced with strategic preparation and reflection.
