Alicia Betts

Alicia Betts has over 15 years of experience in international higher education, having served in various roles across higher education associations and universities. Currently, Alicia serves as the Strategic International Projects Manager at the University of Girona in Catalonia, Spain. In this role, she coordinates the COIL and Virtual Exchange Community of Practice, engages in Internationalization at Home (IaH) initiatives and is part of the local team at the European University for Cross-Border Knowledge Sharing (Across). Alicia graduated from the Universities of Oslo (Norway), Tampere (Finland) and Aveiro (Portugal) with an Erasmus Mundus Master's degree in Higher Education Policy and Management.

Since 2024, Alicia has been a member of the EAIE Thematic Committee Teaching, learning and curriculum.

Niina Huovinen

Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland

Niina Huovinen is a Development Manager and the Institutional Coordinator for U!REKA European University in Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, Finland.
U!REKA is a European University alliance of applied universities that educates future professionals equipped with the skills to accelerate the transition towards climate neutral and smart European cities.
Niina has extensive work experience from higher education international relations and mobilities, having worked in a research university as well as a university of applied sciences. She has previously worked as the Head of International Relations in Metropolia UAS.

Giorgio Marinoni

International Association of Universities, France

Giorgio Marinoni is the Manager of Higher Education and Internationalization at the International Association of Universities (IAU). He oversees Internationalization as one of the four strategic priorities of the Association. Among his responsibilities at IAU are research projects, advisory services and external representation of the Association for what concerns internationalization.
He is the coordination of the HEIAS programme of advisory services for advancing internationalization and the coordinator of the Network of International Education Associations, NIEA, a global network of non-profit, non-government associations whose main stated purpose is to advance international higher education.
He has published the report of the 6th and 5th Global Surveys on Internationalization of Higher Education and of the 1st and 2nd Global Surveys on the impact of COVID-19 on Higher Education. He is also a member of the European Network on International Student Mobility (ENIS): Connecting Research and Practice, funded by COST | European Cooperation in Science and Technology. 
Before his current position at IAU, Giorgio Marinoni worked for UNICA, the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe, in the field of internationalization and higher education policy and reform at the European level and beyond.
He has been an active member of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) at local, national and international level, and served the ESN as its President in 2007 – 2008.
