💡 Student and staff mobility
Staff mobility is often viewed as an individual professional development opportunity, yet its real value extends far beyond the participating staff member. This spotlight session will explore how staff mobility generates impact at three levels: for students, for colleagues and for institutions. Speakers will share how mobility strengthens partnerships, inspires student mobility, enhances teaching and administrative practices and contributes to a more internationalised campus culture.
With more than 20 years of experience in leadership and the management of global mobility and partnerships, Ale is a seasoned presenter, speaker and consultant within the international education sector.
Ale participated in the Amity Institute Exchange Programme in South Carolina, been an academic of TESOL and Linguistics at Universidad Católica de Chile, and founded a Spanish immersion school in Santiago in 2008.
Ale has a Bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Chile and a Master’s in international development from Northumbria University, UK. She is passionate about internationalising higher education in a development context and its impact, and based her postgraduate research on this topic and the benefits of the BECAS Chile Programme.
Ale is currently an independent consultant, focusing on strategy development and internationalisation of higher education, particularly in the global south.
At EAIE, Ale has also been a mentor and Chair of the Mobility Advising Expert Community for the 2022 to 2024 term. She was also Co-Chair of the Risk Management Group at UUKi’s Outward Mobility Network from 2020 to 2022. Currently, she serves as Chair of the Student and Staff Mobility Thematic Committee.
On a personal level, Ale is a Trustee for the Scouts in the North East of England.
She has been involved with the EAIE since 2014 as a session evaluator, and an EAIE mentor for the last 5 years. Alejandra was elected as Chair of the Expert Community Mobility Advising for the 2022–2024 term and is currently the Chair of the Student and Staff Mobility Thematic Committee. She was also Co-Chair of the UUKi's Risk Management Group.
Dr. Meenu is CEO of Lastdates Global Education Services, operating across India, Canada, and the UAE, An active advisor to leading institutions in India and the Middle East and a leading expert in global higher education partnerships. She formerly served as Dean at one of the premier Indian private universities, driving large-scale internationalisation.
She has led 1,500+ funded scholarships and exchange programmes, including Erasmus+, Charpak, and collaborations across the USA, European Countries, and South Korea. Her work has enabled 1,000+ international internships, 250+ Disney Cultural Exchange placements, and 200+ students in Dubai leadership programmes, while mentoring over 10,000 students globally.
Dr. Meenu has established 120+ exchange partnerships and 78+ articulation agreements worldwide, and onboarded 600+ international faculty from 58 countries—strengthening global academic collaboration, mobility, and transnational education ecosystems.
Pauline Vromans is an intercultural trainer, researcher and educator. She recently completed her Ph.D. in intercultural competence development from Radboud University, Nijmegen and has published on intercultural learning in higher education. She holds a M.Sc. in Human Resource Studies from University of Tilburg and a M.Sc. in Culture, Organization and Management from the Vrije University, Amsterdam.
At the University of Amsterdam, she initiated several intercultural projects, such as "Feeling at Home in the Netherlands" workshops, international student support, and intercultural awareness workshops for social mentors, lecturers, and researchers. She designed and taught multiple intercultural skills courses for Bachelor and Master programs. As part of the Local Global Think Tank project team of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies, Pauline has designed and implemented COIL courses for various programs at the University of Amsterdam. Through her company, Intercultural Minds, Pauline facilitates intercultural training for individuals and teams, and provides research-driven intercultural consulting.
Pauline is from the Netherlands but grew up in the Canary Islands, Madrid and Switzerland. In the last twenty years, she has lived and worked/studied in Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia, and the USA. She now lives in Amsterdam with her Dutch-Mexican family.
