💬 Roundtable (conversational)

Amongst the many possible results generated by internationalisation, financial gain and economic returns are less frequently touted – at least publicly – across much of Europe. Yet, strategic interests in national economic development, and emerging challenges such as demographic changes and shifting budgetary priorities, are pushing financial and economic rationales to the fore in many contexts. This session opens the door on a conversation about where financial and economic gain fit in the discussion about rationales for internationalisation today. How do institutions make – in some cases, much-needed – space for financial and economic gain, while maintaining alignment with institutional missions and values that prioritise non-financial aspirations? Join peers for a candid discussion of different approaches to this delicate dynamic.
