Rob Maat

This is a job share with Sandra Slotte

I’m Rob Maat and my focus is on managing international offices and mainstreaming internationalisation on a strategic level. Translating European agendas such as Bologna, digitalisation, sustainability and inclusiveness into ‘must dos’ and ‘nice to haves’, and integrating these into strategic institutional policies, is an essential part of this job. Through balancing centralised and decentralised internationalisation approaches at the programme, faculty and institutional level, I’m used to collaborating proactively with internal stakeholders.

I am a persistent ambassador for the qualitative effects and the quid pro quo involved in international collaboration. Learning with and from fellow EAIE members about how educational and organisational systems work in other countries is key to improving one’s own knowledge and skills and creating a stronger European Higher Education Area.

With 15+ years’ experience in various positions in international higher education, ranging from lecturer to strategic management, I am currently Head of the International Office and Senior Policy Adviser in Internationalisation at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, and Chair of the Dutch UAS International Relations Council.

As an open-minded, energetic and reliable person, I’m looking forward to putting my skills and experience towards working together with my job-share Sandra Slotte in the Strategy and Management Expert Community.
