Mapping the state of internationalisation in 2024
With 2817 individual responses from 46 European Higher Education Area (EHEA) countries, the newest edition of the EAIE Barometer report offers a comprehensive view of the health and vitality of internationalisation in European higher education amidst significant challenges and opportunities.
The report, available to download for free, provides detailed insight into current issues in our sector, through respondents’ perceptions in key areas such as their professional roles in international higher education, the institution’s or organisation’s structure and strategy for internationalisation budgets and more.

Barometer Advisory Group
The EAIE is currently preparing for the EAIE Barometer (fourth edition), the largest and most geographically representative study of its kind in Europe. To ensure its quality, relevance and impact, we are working with an Advisory Group consisting of approximately a dozen experts from across Europe and beyond. Together, they will play a key role in helping to shape this important research exercise.

Harpa Sif Arnarsdóttir
Harpa Sif Arnarsdóttir is a senior advisor at Rannís – the Icelandic Centre for Research, where the Erasmus+ National Agency is based. Her work focuses on intra-European mobility in higher education, digitalisation, European University alliances and other centralised Erasmus+ actions.
Harpa began her career at the University of Iceland’s International Office as a project manager before she was seconded to the European Commission in 2017. There, she worked on the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Erasmus+ programme and EU policies in higher education until 2021. Since then, she served as an institutional coordinator for the Aurora European University Alliance and as a senior relationship manager within the European Student Card Initiative before joining Rannís a year ago.
Harpa holds a BA in Political Science and an MPA in public administration, with a particular academic interest in institutional decision-making and results-based management in funding programmes.
