EAIE Barometer: Internationalisation in Europe

The EAIE Barometer is the largest and most geographically representative study of its kind ever undertaken in Europe. The research focuses on the current state of affairs regarding internationalisation of higher education in Europe as viewed by practitioners directly involved in the internationalisation of their institutions. The EAIE Barometer forms an ongoing series of studies, providing longitudinal comparisons on developments in internationalisation over time.

The EAIE Barometer (second edition): Signposts of success

The latest publication in the EAIE Barometer series looks at key indicators of successful internationalisation. The data in this report is based on a 2017 survey completed by 2317 respondents from 1292 unique institutions in 45 countries across the European Higher Education Area. Building on the insights gleaned in the first and second editions of the Barometer, this report delves into nine of the commonalities shared by institutions where practitioners are most confident about the current and future state of internationalisation.

The EAIE Barometer: second edition

The second edition of the Barometer was launched at the 30th Annual Conference and Exhibition. This survey was conducted at the end of 2017, in partnership with IFF Research, a leading research agency. The survey was completed by 2317 respondents from 1292 unique institutions in 45 countries across the European Higher Education Area. This second edition builds upon the results of the first edition, published in 2015, in order to detail changes and growth within the field as well as highlight trends.

The EAIE Barometer: first edition

Based on a wealth of data and information gathered in 2014, the first EAIE Barometer: Internationalisation in Europe focuses on the state of internationalisation in Europe, key developments and challenges in the field, as well as the specific skills and needs of staff involved in internationalisation. The report was informed by 2411 survey respondents from 33 countries: 2093 employees of higher education institutions and 318 from other organisations involved with international higher education.

The report provides valuable insights into developments in the field, actual practices employed by European institutions and tools required for the further professionalisation of internationalisation.
