Nieke is Project Manager Employability and Skills at Leiden University, the Netherlands. The project is part of the university’s agenda and vision on education, Learning@LeidenUniversity, based on research-driven teaching in an international and diverse learning environment, in which students are encouraged to develop an active and ambitious attitude. She has been working with the EAIE on issues of employability skills, graduate careers and international internships since 2010 and is currently a Steering group member of the EAIE Expert Community Employability. Nieke holds a Master’s degree in Chinese Languages and Culture and a first-year degree in Law from Leiden University, the Netherlands, in addition to having gained training and education on employability policy and career services through various professional organisations. Prior to her current role, Nieke focused on higher education graduate recruitment. Her areas of expertise are career guidance, employability skills, international internships, project management and policy advising. Within the EAIE, Nieke has been active in raising awareness about student employability in a globalised world: she has presented sessions, workshops and a webinar on the topic and was involved in organising a Spotlight Seminar on student support.
