Fiona Hunter

Fiona works globally as a consultant, trainer and researcher in higher education with private, public and faith-based institutions. She is also Associate Director at the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation (CHEI) at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy, and Co-Editor of the Journal of Studies for International Education (JSIE). Fiona’s background in languages – she is able to work in English, Italian, French and Spanish – with a specialisation in interpreting and translating is what first brought her to the field of internationalisation. Her work focuses mainly on strategic change and internationalisation, and recent projects have included work with university leadership in Italy, Romania, Albania, Russia, Israel, Colombia and Cuba. In 2015 she helped lead an international team of over 30 researchers to produce a study for the European Parliament on the internationalisation of higher education. She earned her Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in higher education management from the University of Bath, UK. She is a former president of the EAIE and has offered training programmes on a broad range of issues in internationalisation over the years. She is also a member of the EAIE Knowledge Development Taskforce.
