Passionate proponent of the idea that languages and intercultural communication are vital tools for internationalisation.

Christian is Director of the Centre for Languages and Philology at Ulm University, Germany, and was Steering group member in the EAIE Expert Community Language and Culture. He studied German and English language and literature and wrote his Doctoral thesis about languages for special purposes. He has authored numerous articles on language policy, English as a lingua franca, language for special purposes and multiculturalism and is the editor of his centre’s Ulm Language Studies book series. He has been a speaker and panel moderator on these topics at numerous international conferences. Christian joined the EAIE Expert Community Language and Culture  in 2001 and was its Chair from 2002 to 2010. From 2004 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2014 he was also a member of the Board and General Council of the EAIE.
