Expert in joint degree programmes and funding frameworks

Annika is Leader of the Global Team in the Higher Education Unit at the Finnish National Agency for Education EDUFI. While pursuing her Master’s degree at Åbo Akademi University in Finland, she participated in an exchange programme at the Université de Rennes in France. She has also completed Master’s-level studies at the Centre for European Studies at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium. Annika has worked in internationalisation of higher education for 20 years at institutional, national, Nordic and global levels in Finland, Ireland, Norway and Belgium. She began her work with Erasmus Mundus in 2005 and has continued to closely follow developments related to the role of joint study programmes in promoting internationalisation. For several years, Annika evaluated joint degree proposals in Brussels for Erasmus Mundus and other programmes. She has offered joint programme training through several EU projects as well as in Japan and Georgia. She has also been an EAIE trainer on joint programme development and management since 2013 and has chaired and spoken at several EAIE events, where she presents on themes related to EU programmes, development cooperation and capacity building. Annika was a Steering group member of the Expert Community Cooperation for Development from 2020 to 2022.
