No question about it: Geneva 2018 has something for everyone

No question about it: Geneva 2018 has something for everyone Geneva 2018

This September, more than 5500 professionals from 85 countries will gather in Geneva – one of the most international, cultured and fascinating cities in Europe – for the 30th Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition. And just like Geneva, this year’s conference has something for everyone. Check out the programme online now!

Hungry for knowledge?

Those who love to learn absolutely love coming to the EAIE Conference. We have many professional development opportunities planned this year, with workshops designed and presented by experts in our field; posters on best practices, innovations, and country updates; and over 130 sessions on topics running the breadth of the international higher education field. Additionally, there will be special ‘life-skills’ sessions aimed at increasing the soft skills every professional needs to be successful, such as mastering the art of negotiation; hacking your own productivity; and becoming more assertive and resilient. Also for the first time, EAIE members can have professional headshots taken in the Member Lounge for their LinkedIn profile.

Feeling adventurous?

Throughout the week, those who want to explore new perspectives can pop into our Campfire sessions – back again this year by popular demand – to discuss hot topics in international higher education in a cosy, casual atmosphere. There’s also the chance to engage with 600 organisations and service providers by having a wander around the massive EAIE Exhibition. Geneva itself is also an amazing place for the curious at heart: unlock the mysteries of the universe at the CERN laboratory, head out for a hike in the mountains and explore some of the world’s finest shops, museums and eateries throughout the city.

Looking to make connections?

Everyone in international higher education knows that the EAIE Annual Conference is the place for networking. In addition to the opportunities offered via the array of sessions, the conference also includes a number of scheduled networking events for you to connect with like-minded professionals. The Opening Reception on Tuesday is the largest networking event of the conference, but there will be chances to make new connections and rekindle old ones at various events throughout the week, including those hosted by the EAIE Expert Communities. And why not use your down time to connect the work you do every day to the broader international context? Visit the  International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum for an exhibition of the organisation’s international humanitarian work, or book a tour of the Palais des Nations, the European seat of the United Nations, where so many of the world’s most challenging problems are tackled.

Love having a good time?

Last but certainly not least, the conference offers plenty of opportunities to blow off steam and have some fun. Get your blood pumping in the 5k EAIE Morning Run, stretch and recharge with Early-Bird Yoga or – new this year – attend a mindfulness mini-session. The EAIE Soiree at the beautiful, Brasserie des Halles de l’Ile on the River Rhône will give everyone a chance to mingle, celebrate and dance the night away. And for a bit of relaxation, there’s always a dip, sauna or massage at one of Geneva’s many spas. In fact, EAIE members can even get a massage on-site in the Member Lounge!
