Jan Muehlfeit, Chairman Europe Microsoft Corporation

Born in what was formerly Czechoslovakia, Jan received a computer science degree from the Czech Technical University in Prague and later completed executive development programmes at Wharton, LSE and Harvard. In his current role Jan represents Microsoft Corporation, engaging with governments, large corporations, key partners and academic elites both across Europe and on a global level.

Jan’s commitment to youth development is highlighted through his work as a board member of both Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Europe (JAYE), Europe’s largest provider of entrepreneurship education programmes, and AIESEC, the world’s largest student-run organisation providing an international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential through youth leadership activities and international internships.

Over the past two decades, Jan has received numerous public awards including ‘Best Manager of Czech Republic’ from the Czech Prime Minister, and ‘Czech Brain Award’ for representing the Czech Republic abroad. He has been named ‘Czech IT Personality of the Year’ three times. Jan will be sharing his insights on business and academe in the Opening Plenary of the EAIE Conference on 17 September 2014.

Sebastian Terry, fundraiser, author, motivator and adventurer

“Everyone has at least one thing they have to do before they die. Some even have a list. But how many goals and dreams on this list are actually achieved?” What started as one man’s journey to find purpose in life has grown into a global movement of people chasing their dreams and helping others do the same. In 2009, the death of a close friend sparked a moment of clarity in Sebastian’s life. He decided to compile a list of 100 things he wanted to accomplish, and now travels the world raising money for charity through his ‘100 things’ campaign. From completing a triathlon, to swimming with sharks, to sky diving naked, Sebastian aims to inspire others to fulfil their dreams and aspirations. As a result of the global interest in his campaign, Sebastian created an online community where people can share their own dreams, goals and achievements. Born and educated in Australia, Sebastian studied Human Movement at university. Don’t miss Sebastian’s inspiring speech at the Closing Plenary on 19 September 2014.

Back by popular demand for 2014 is the Ignite session, which went down a storm at last year’s conference in Istanbul. We like to spoil our members, and the EAIE Member Lounge will be returning, bigger and better than ever! Unlimited refreshments, quiet working spaces, and a complimentary massage await you! Sign up as an EAIE Member now to enjoy all these benefits and significant savings on the conference fee.

This year’s conference programme is bursting with activities for all those connected to international higher education, but don’t take our word for it, take a look at the conference programme yourself! And don’t forget, conference registration opens on 21 May.
