Feel the rhythm of revolution: Get to know Glasgow
As we look ahead to gathering at the EAIE Conference and Exhibition on 08–11 September, we turn our attention to Glasgow, a city whose spirit, creativity and unmistakable warmth make it the perfect host for a year shaped by ‘The Rhythm of Revolution’. Glasgow is a place where history and reinvention move in step, offering participants a vibrant backdrop for connection, reflection and forward momentum. Glasgow is situated in west central Scotland, about 80 kilometres from the capital city, Edinburgh. As Scotland’s largest city, it is known for its architecture, cultural offerings, music scene, accessibility to explore Scotland and, most importantly, its friendly locals!
Dear Green Place
The phrase ‘Dear Green Place’ is more than a name in Glasgow, a city with numerous parks, gardens and green spaces to discover. Participants can explore these spaces through sustainable and active experiences, from guided bike rides to walking and running tours that reveal Glasgow’s character at street level.
Neighbourhoods
Glasgow’s neighbourhoods pulse with their own rhythm. From the creative energy of the West End to the historic charm of the Merchant City, every district offers a different perspective on local life. Thanks to excellent public transport, it’s easy to spend an afternoon discovering a single neighbourhood and experiencing the city the way Glaswegians do through its cafés, cultural spots and community spirit.
UNESCO city of music
Glasgow is also designated a UNESCO City of Music, recognising a rich musical tradition. As well as being home to the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the BBC’s Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Scottish Opera, there is a wonderful informal music scene, with gigs and open mic nights throughout the city’s venues and pubs.
Culture
Glasgow’s world-class museums and galleries, many of them free to visit, make cultural discovery accessible to all. Delegates can explore the iconic Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, the Gallery of Modern Art or the award-winning Riverside Museum, each offering a window into the city’s artistic, historical and innovative spirit.
Art and architecture
Glasgow’s city centre, designed as a grid system, is easy to explore on foot, so don’t forget to look up to appreciate the historic architecture as you explore. Art lovers will appreciate the city’s quirky Art Mural Trail extending across the city centre and the Merchant City areas. Another unique theme is the influence of Glasgow artist, designer and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, with many buildings, attractions and works to be enjoyed, including Mackintosh-inspired tearooms.
The gateway to Scotland
One of the advantages of a visit to Glasgow is how easily you can explore the rest of Scotland, from historic whisky distilleries and castles to stunning lochs and landscapes. Visitors might choose an organised tour from Glasgow or take the train at leisure to Balloch on Loch Lomond, Edinburgh, Stirling or Fort William.
A friendly city
Ask anyone in Glasgow what defines the city, and you’ll hear the same answer: its people. Glaswegians are known for their warmth, humour and generosity qualities that shape every interaction and leave a lasting impression on visitors. This spirit of welcome is woven into the city’s identity and will be felt throughout the EAIE Conference and Exhibition.
The rhythm awaits in Glasgow
Glasgow is ready to welcome EAIE participants and share the rhythm, creativity and revolutionary spirit that make it such an inspiring host city. It embodies The Rhythm of Revolution in every sense: shaped by reinvention, driven by creativity and grounded in the collective spirit of its people. Its innovation, cultural vibrancy and openness to new ideas mirror the conversations we’ll explore at this year’s conference. As we gather in Scotland, we look forward to discovering how the city’s rhythm can spark our own. We can’t wait to welcome you to EAIE 2026 and experience Glasgow’s revolutionary energy together.
