In this Handbook article, EAIE’s President Markus Laitinen and colleagues explain how the EAIE has developed and professionalised in tandem with changes in the field of international education. This OP aims to stimulate discussion on the critical self-evaluation of the true values of international education, considering the ideas behind study abroad and looking at the dual functions of international education professionals.
