Session 03.10

A discussion on academic freedom

Academic freedom is pivotal to democracy and a cornerstone of any free society. In many countries, however, this freedom is under attack from the state: Hungary, Turkey and Russia are just some examples where universities find themselves under siege. This session will take a look at the current state of play, providing examples of where academic freedom is restricted, and exploring what the international community can do to raise awareness of instances where academic freedom is under threat.
