Session 02.15

Encompassing multiple voices: a comparison of study abroad trends and practices across Australia, Europe and Japan

This session will discuss study abroad trends and practices in Australia, Europe, and Japan through a comparative lens. Drawing on research across the three contexts, it analyses how aligning outbound mobility more closely with economic, diplomatic and political interests leads to a shift in targeted destinations and the intended goals of study abroad. It addresses how study abroad is used as a tool to enhance intercultural and employability capitals for students, and as public diplomacy.
