Marketeer with a keen eye on what it takes internally for universities to gain international ground

Marlies Overbeek joined Navitas in December 2018 as Director of Marketing and Admissions to work on the launch and day-to-day business of two new Pathway Colleges in the Netherlands. Before that, she worked as Senior Marketing Adviser at the University of Twente, the Netherlands, where she headed a team of 10 marketing and communication professionals working on the university’s internationalisation goals. She was also previously involved in organisational change projects at Delft University of Technology and building Delft’s international presence from 2005 onwards.

The common thread in her career so far is connecting marketing and recruitment of graduate students and universities’ strategic policies and activities. Her interests involve building bridges within the university to facilitate enrolment of qualified students. In the past, Marlies has been a board member of the Dutch higher education marketeer network DHENIM. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business and Languages from HAN University of Applied Sciences, and a Master’s Degree in Communication from the University of Twente, both in the Netherlands. Marlies was elected as Steering group member of the Expert Community Admission and Recognition for the 2020–2022 term.
