Jan Geerts

Internationally oriented matchmaker who aims to build, expand and share networks for mutual benefits.

Jan works for the Alumni Relations Team of Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Prior to this role, he worked as a communications advisor at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS / De Haagse Hogeschool) from 2006 to 2013. In 2013 he was appointed as Alumni Relations Advisor at THUAS, the first such position at a Dutch university of applied sciences at the time of his appointment. In that capacity, Jan was responsible for setting up the brand-new alumni office and implementing its institution-wide alumni policy.

He is an experienced conference speaker and trainer and loves to share his expertise with other higher education institutions. Jan has also been involved in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) since 2012 and chaired the 2014 CASE Lowlands conference in The Hague. Before he started working in higher education, he worked in the internet sector, where he gained considerable experience in social media strategies and online marketing. An alumnus of the European Studies Master’s programme at the University of Amsterdam, Jan has also studied alumni relations, fundraising and communications.

Jan joined the EAIE in 2015 and served as Chair of the Expert Community Alumni Relations from 2020 to 2022.
