Meet the 2022–2024 EAIE leaders and volunteers
The EAIE is a global community where diverse voices meet, and knowledge and best practices intersect to shape the sector. The EAIE volunteers dedicate their time and expertise to making this happen as they believe responsible international higher education can make the world a better place now more than ever. It is their hard work that helps drive the EAIE mission forward.
In April 2022, current EAIE members stepped up to put themselves forward for a variety of volunteer leadership positions. After two weeks of voting, 84 candidates from 22 countries were elected, including 16 candidates who will job-share positions. Without further ado, we are thrilled to introduce you to the members of our Association who will comprise the incoming 2022–2024 EAIE Leadership and volunteers. They will begin their term at the Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition in Barcelona in September 2022.
The new EAIE Vice-President: Sara López Selga
We are very pleased to welcome Sara López Selga as she takes on her role as the EAIE’s new Vice-President in September. Sara is Director of International Relations at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Previously, she gained professional experience at the Teaching and Learning Institute of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and in Brussels, thereby becoming involved in coordinating an EU capacity building project with Latin America. Sara has previously served on the EAIE Board for two terms from 2016–2020.

Sara will work closely with incoming President Piet Van Hove from the University of Antwerp in Belgium, to help implement the EAIE's 2026 Strategy, with leaders and members playing an active role. Sara is committed to staying true to the values we share as an association and to purposefully drive our joint strategy, with leaders and members playing an active role.
The new Board members
The Board is the EAIE’s executive body, responsible for developing and implementing the Association’s strategy. Together with the President and Vice-President, these three newly elected individuals will be part of this core leadership group starting their term in September.
Ramon Ellenbroek previously volunteered as an EAIE trainer and is the former Chair of the Strategy and Management Expert Community. Ramon is the Head of Student Life and Mobility at Utrecht University, the Netherlands.
Anna Grönlund continues her important role on the EAIE Board with a second term. Anna previously served on the Awards and Talent Committee and the Conference Programme Committee. Anna is Head of Internationalisation and Higher Education Policy at the University of Jyväskylä in Finland.
Tayyeb Shah served six years on the Professional Development Committee and was its Chair for the last two years. Tayyeb is the Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Western Australia, and Principal Adviser at Wells Advisory UK.
New General Council and Expert Community Steering groups
This September, we are pleased to welcome the new General Council who, together with Past President Michelle Stewart, will provide oversight for the long-term vision, budget and accounts of the Association.

Last but certainly not least, we are pleased to welcome the incoming Expert Community Steering group leaders, who will represent EAIE member interests in 15 specialised areas and will work to create a sense of community among members. They will also provide state-of-the-art content and quality assurance for all of the EAIE's activities.
