Which groups of students participate less in outbound mobility and why?
- Wednesday 14 Sept
14:30-16:00 - Upper walkway, Level 1, Fira
Using survey data from more than 15,000 students in the Netherlands, we explored the influence of a student’s background on the likelihood that they would participate in outbound mobility during their studies. As our poster shows, three background factors significantly increased the chance of staying at home: being a first-generation student, coming from a low-income family and being a parent. Cost and distance from loved ones were cited as the most important barriers to going abroad.
