Go-Create in Sweden: Where education inspires real-world impact

Campus experiences.jpg

There’s a reason the 2025 EAIE Conference and Exhibition is heading to Gothenburg, and it’s not just for the famous cinnamon buns or coastal charm (though those certainly help). West Sweden is brimming with creative, collaborative and impactful education initiatives that are shaping a brighter, more sustainable future. If you’re passionate about innovation in higher education, this region should be at the top of your "must-experience" list.

As part of the conference programme, you can explore these innovations first-hand through our immersive Campus Experiences: A guided visit to a local university where you can explore innovative international strategies firsthand and connect with students and faculty for inspiration and ideas. This is where policy meets practice, where theory becomes tech and where learning comes to life. Here’s a sneak peek at what makes West Sweden’s academic landscape so special, and why you’ll want to be part of it this September.

Innovation meets education

University of Gothenburg

Sustainability isn’t just a subject, it’s a mindset. One in five courses here carries a sustainability label, woven into the curricula of every discipline. And in 2025, they’re going bold with a new Oxford-inspired PPE programme, combining philosophy, politics and economics across three faculties; perfect for students eager to tackle complex societal questions. They’re also bridging the gap to the real world, with advisory boards at the School of Business, Economics and Law made up of top industry leaders guiding programme development.

What you can expect from the Campus Experience: Explore vibrant urban campuses where sustainability thrives – from forest-based design labs to marine field stations and a 300-year-old herbarium in a brand-new science building. Fun fact: the university’s research vessel Skagerak embarks on Arctic expeditions!

Halmstad University

Where tech meets society. Their Master’s in Network Forensics uniquely combines cyber tech and social science, with hands-on training based on EU and Swedish civil contingency scenarios. Plus, students from different disciplines unite to explore sustainable development, because solutions come from collaboration.

What you can expect from the Campus Experience: Welcome to Sweden’s Riviera! Tour a campus with stunning seaside views and a 360° panorama from level 22. See how students tackle real-world challenges in an environment buzzing with innovation.

University of Borås

Where fashion walks the talk. At the Swedish School of Textiles, students recently designed uniforms for the UN Headquarters in NYC, following in the footsteps of Dior and Benetton, all grounded in sustainability. With a cutting-edge centre for resource recovery, Borås is turning waste into opportunity through five pioneering Master’s programmes.

What you can expect from the Campus Experience: Step into the Textile Fashion Center, where academia, museums, and start-ups collide in a whirlwind of creativity. You’ll literally walk through fashion history and future under one roof.

University of Skövde

From academia to the arcade. Skövde is a powerhouse in game development, with graduates behind global hits like Valheim and Goat Simulator. Through the ASSAR Innovation Arena, students collaborate with industries on cutting-edge engineering and informatics projects in both virtual and physical spaces.

What you can expect from the Campus Experience: Get your game on! Meet students and faculty behind Sweden’s fastest-growing game development scene, and see how the ASSAR arena blends education and tech.

Chalmers University of Technology

Going global, staying grounded. With a bold new strategy for internationalisation, Chalmers aims for 50% of students to gain international experience. Their new Tracks and Fuse initiatives offer interdisciplinary learning in makerspaces and labs, where students, researchers and industry partners collaborate to build tomorrow’s solutions together.

What you can expect from the Campus Experience: Experience Fuse, Chalmers’ futuristic makerspace, and dive into Tracks – a model of interdisciplinary, student-led learning that reflects the future of higher education.

Jönköping University

Learning for life. Jönköping’s inclusive ethos means education is for everyone, even at 105! Their Pathway Programmes help international students prepare for degrees, and they’re the only Swedish university offering programmes for orthopaedic engineers. With global leadership in moulded materials, they’re shaping industries and minds.

What you can expect from the Campus Experience: Peek under the hood of their solar-powered race car and tour a library where old factory buildings meet sleek modern design; a perfect metaphor for Jönköping’s vision: People first.
