Assessing core student learning outcomes in higher education: the current state and global trends

Assessing student learning outcomes (SLOs) in HE has received increased attention due to demands for evidence of learning and the need to increase graduates’ workforce readiness. The session provides an overview of global trends in assessing SLOs, using critical thinking and intercultural competency examples to illustrate a research-driven and performance-based assessment approach. It will also present work from international comparative studies on the acquisition of domain-specific knowledge.
