Session 07.08

Creating a safer environment in the EMI classroom: the role of students' and lecturers' anxiety

Explore why lecturers and students often experience feelings of anxiety in the English-medium instruction (EMI) classroom. Incorporating all the different voices in the EMI choir, from lecturers, home and mobile students, to university administrators and EMI trainers, we will discuss how anxieties can be reduced by creating a safer and more conducive EMI environment. The topic will be viewed from both a theoretical and a practical perspective, with plenty of real-life examples and suggestions.
