Uniting luminous perspectives at EAIE Lisbon 2027
In 2027, Lisbon’s seven hills will welcome our global community of international education professionals. Building on the revolutionary ideas collectively created in EAIE Glasgow 2026, we are ecstatic to turn the page on a new chapter, bringing that energy to sunny Portugal for the very first time.
Next year’s theme, Luminous Perspectives, is both a reflection and a celebration, capturing Lisbon’s radiant, sunlit landscape as well as the diversity of ideas, insights and experiences that define and strengthen our sector. Lisbon invites us to look outward, to see further and to imagine new horizons. It is a setting that perfectly embodies the spirit of exploration and connection at the heart of the 37th annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition.
Finding light in the cracks
Lisbon’s natural light is a unique phenomenon, long admired by painters, photographers and filmmakers drawn to its striking clarity and glow. As the city’s sunlight falls across weathered facades and cobbled streets, it reveals texture, depth and contrast, turning even the smallest imperfections into something vivid and compelling. It operates similarly to our sector of international higher education, where we don’t always seek perfect answers.
More often, it is within the differences, the tensions and the so-called cracks that new understanding begins to emerge. It’s these moments of contrast that can illuminate fresh possibilities, inviting us to see complexity not as a barrier, but as a foundation for growth and innovation. As the global meeting point for over 7000 international education professionals, EAIE Lisbon 2027 empowers you to connect with partners, strengthen collaboration and gain practical insights through our comprehensive selection of networking activities and workshops. When combined, there will be no shortage of opportunity when it comes to bringing these newfound understandings and innovations to light.

Once at the very heart of the Portuguese Empire, Lisbon played a pivotal role in the Age of Discovery. From its harbours and ships setting sail toward unknown worlds, to forging connections that would link continents for centuries to come, the city carries a legacy of exploration, courage and curiosity. In that spirit, we hope to embody a similar sense of fearlessness, a willingness to step into the unknown and embrace what lies beyond familiar horizons.
By setting sail on this journey of discovery, we also commit to illuminating what must be seen, fostering honest dialogue and taking responsibility where it is required. Our ambition at EAIE Lisbon 2027 is to serve as a lighthouse for our community. Through expert-led sessions from leading minds in the sector and peer-to-peer learning opportunities at every corner, benefit from sector-specific guidance as we navigate complexity together. Through the inspiring ideas brought forward by our vibrant global community we provide the platform to reach new shores and, in the process, achieve a deeper, shared understanding.
Save the date
We are eagerly anticipating your arrival in sunny Lisbon for the 2027 EAIE Conference and Exhibition from 07–10 September. The venue for the conference will be the FIL - Lisbon Exhibition and Congress Centre. Located on the Tagus River, in the redeveloped Parque das Nações, experience trendy waterfront restaurants, striking contemporary buildings such as the Camões Theatre and the vast Lisbon Oceanarium.
