The EAIE Awards are a cherished tradition. They provide a meaningful moment to pause and recognise the individuals and organisations whose vision, dedication, and actions have made a lasting impact on the field of international education. Each year, we honour those who have gone above and beyond to foster connection, innovation, and progress. This year’s recipient continues that legacy of excellence. Read his inspiring achievement below.

President’s Award

It is with great pride that we announce Dr. Allan E. Goodman as the recipient of the 2025 EAIE President’s Award, in recognition of his exceptional, decades-long commitment to advancing international education. As President Emeritus of the Institute of International Education (IIE), Dr. Goodman has shaped the global landscape of academic exchange, championing initiatives that promote peace, knowledge, and mutual understanding. Under his 28 years of leadership, IIE became a beacon of opportunity, rescuing scholars in crisis, administering the Fulbright Program, and supporting mobility for thousands across borders. A respected voice on international advisory boards and an advocate for transatlantic collaboration, his efforts have empowered generations of students and scholars worldwide.

Dr. Goodman has authored multiple books on international relations, published by leading presses including Princeton, Harvard and Yale. Earlier in his career, he served at the U.S. Department of State and the Central Intelligence Agency.

Dr. Goodman continues to shape the field through service and mentorship. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, sits on the selection committee for Schwarzman Scholars, and has chaired the Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committees for Saudi Arabia and the UAE. He has also served as a Jury Member for the Yidan Prize in Education Research and Development. As an advisor, Dr. Goodman lends his expertise internationally, serving on the Board of Trustees of the Education Above All Foundation, the International Law Institute, and CMKL University, as well as acting as an advisor to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Receiving the EAIE President's Award is one of the highest honours of my career — and to receive it in Sweden feels like winning the Nobel Prize for International Education. This recognition would not be possible without the leadership, vision and dedication of EAIE and its remarkable members.
