Julia-Sophie Rothmann

Julia-Sophie Rothmann is the Deputy Director and Institutional Erasmus coordinator at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany. She holds two university degrees in Applied Modern Languages with Economics (2005) and one in German as a Foreign Language (2008). During her studies she spent one semester abroad at the University of Leicester, UK, one month in Spain for a language course and six weeks at the University of Daugavpils in Latvia for a DAAD-funded internship in teaching German. Julia-Sophie began her career in the international office at JLU Giessen as a student assistant already during her studies in 2003. After graduation she worked in a translation office but returned to the international office in 2005. Her main tasks in the office are coordinating and promoting the Erasmus Mobility programme as well as other EU Programmes such as Erasmus Mundus, Tempus or Erasmus LLP projects. Besides, she gives support in strategic affairs, double degree programmes and organising mobility. She was also actively involved in the CHE’s project 'Indicators for Mapping and Profiling Internationalisation (IMPI)'. Furthermore, Julia-Sophie is responsible for organising the Erasmus/International Staff Training Weeks at JLU Giessen. Since 2009 these international weeks are organised annually and form an integral part if the international office’s calendar. Besides working for the international office, she also works as a freelance translator and language teacher.
