Gunnar Vaht

Gunnar Vaht has been Head of the Estonian Academic Recognition Information Centre (Estonian ENIC/NARIC) since 1997. He has more than 20 years of experience in credential evaluation, specialising in the countries of the former Soviet Union (the Russian Federation, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the South Caucasus). He has organised several international training courses on the higher education systems of these countries, and acted as a trainer and speaker for many international workshops. He was responsible for establishing the system for academic recognition in Estonia, and was also closely involved in the development of the Estonian higher education system in the Bologna process towards European Higher Education Area.

Gunnar has been President of the Intergovernmental Committee of the Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee since 2013, and served as President of the ENIC network from 2003 to 2005. Since 2016, he has been a member of the Drafting Committee of the Global Convention on the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications.
