Jan Knauer

Dr. Jan Knauer is a Careers Service staff member at University of Münster, Germany, where he is responsible for the project ‘Employability’, which is run by its Careers Service and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The project is set up to define the concept of employability specifically for a German research university. In this framework, Jan consults deans and other academic staff responsible for curricula designs in the faculties. In addition, he holds workshops for students, mainly to support their professional orientation and strengthen their transferable skills. Since 2015, he has conducted various expert missions to Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia and Vietnam, where he has consulted academic and administrative staff in higher education institutions as well as ministries of higher education on how to strengthen graduates’ employability.
Prior to that, Jan was manager in an international youth foundation in Munich. Before he started his professional career, he studied History, Public Law and Political Sciences in Tübingen, Aix-en-Provence, France and Paris, France and obtained a PhD in Contemporary History.
