As the largest French-speaking university in the world, Aix Marseille Université (amU) welcomes more than 80,000 students and 8,000 staff members each year including 12,000 international students. Awarded the Initiative of Excellence in 2016, our A*Midex Foundation, with its annual budget of €26 million, contributes effectively to the development of excellent interdisciplinary education and research on a long-term basis. Globally engaged, amU welcomes students from 160 countries and offers more than 70 degrees in international partnerships. It coordinates the European alliance “CIVIS,” bringing together 11 European partners and 6 prestigious African partners. Based on the shared civic identities of its members, CIVIS brings together nearly 470,000 students and 58,000 staff around subjects focusing on societal challenges, with the distinctive intention to build stong collaboration beyond Europe.
