This poster shares outcomes from a staff week on internationalisation at home at UIC Barcelona, where participants from 18 universities reflected on institutional practices. Surveys and design sessions revealed shared challenges – language, motivation and resources – and showed how peer exchange and co-creation can boost engagement and extend internationalisation at home impact beyond mobility.
Please note, posters are divided between the SEC Centre and the Crown Plaza Hotel this year. The approximate walking time between the two locations is 4 minutes. Posters ending between 01 and 16 will be found in the SEC Centre Concourse, posters ending between 17 and 30 will be found in the Crown Plaza Hotel, Argyll Foyer.
Vanessa Willenberg is the Global Partnerships Manager at UIC Barcelona, where she works on developing and strengthening the university’s international partnerships and identifying new opportunities for academic collaboration worldwide.
Her work focuses on international higher education, institutional partnerships, academic mobility and the development of collaborative initiatives, including joint programmes, progression pathways and other forms of cross-border cooperation. She works closely with academic faculties and international partners to explore opportunities that respond to both institutional priorities and student needs.
Before joining UIC Barcelona, Vanessa worked at a university in China, where she led the international relations department and had the opportunity to represent the institution at various international events and exchanges. She has also lived and worked in Ireland and the United States, previously. These experiences across different countries and educational environments have shaped her international outlook and given her a broad intercultural perspective that continues to inform her work today.
She regularly represents UIC Barcelona at international higher education conferences, institutional visits and networking events, and is particularly interested in building sustainable partnerships, internationalisation of the curriculum and creating meaningful opportunities for collaboration between universities across different countries and educational systems.
