International students strengthen internationalisation at large, and they also make an important contribution to the economic development of their host countries. A study by the German Economic Institute on behalf of the German Academic Exchange Service shows that in the long term, every cohort of international students contributes around eight times more to the revenue of German public budgets than the state invests in them.
