Nicola Latchiah

Nicola Latchiah is the Manager of Global Learning at the University of Cape Town, with 34 years’ experience in international higher education. Throughout her career, Nicola has played a pivotal role in fostering collaborations between South African universities and global, continental, national, and regional partners. She previously served as Principal International Advisor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and as Acting Director of Internationalisation at the University of Cape Town, where she now leads the Global Learning portfolio.
Nicola’s expertise spans internationalisation, institutional advancement, alumni management, research, and student development. In development and fundraising, she has established strategic partnerships with corporates, foundations, and international stakeholders, raising funding for research, student support, and community engagement. Her roles have included project direction for alumni programmes whilst reporting to the university Registrar. As a registered Psychometrist, Nicola has supported careers advice, student mentoring, and psychometric testing, alongside researching academic development and student learning. Nicola holds Bachelor’s, Honours, and Master’s degrees in Psychology and industrial psychology. An accomplished presenter, she has contributed to NAFSA, EAIE, and UN leadership events and authored a chapter on internationalisation in the CHE ‘Review of Higher Education in South Africa’.
