This poster presents a study that aims to move the discourse on international students beyond deficit narratives by rethinking international mobility as preparation for engaging with complexity in a rapidly changing world. Based on interviews at three US universities, it introduces the metacognitive stance – an ethical capacity to hold multiple, historically grounded logics within an evolving whole and navigate diverse ways of knowing.
