This campfire session will explore how to build staff capacity for Internationalisation at Home and Internationalisation of the Curriculum. Can capacity building, professional development and stakeholder engagement truly enable academic and non-academic staff to embed global perspectives in their teaching and practice, or are such efforts still shaped by rhetoric and limitations? Drawing on insights from Slovenia, the Balkans, Ireland and India, we will discuss ways to connect strategy and practice.
Katarina Aškerc Zadravec is the Vice-Dean for Quality and Head of International Cooperation at B2 Ljubljana School of Business, Slovenia, she is also Quality Excellence Director and Chair of the Accreditation Board at EUMMAS. She is an Assistant Professor in the field of education.
Her academic and professional work focuses on internationalisation of higher education, Internationalisation at Home, Internationalisation of the Curriculum, professional development of university staff, educational management, and quality assurance. Her research particularly explores how internationalisation strategies and professional development translate into curriculum, teaching, and everyday institutional practice.
She previously worked at the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education and the Slovenian national Erasmus+ agency CMEPIUS and currently serves as an external expert and evaluator for both organisations. She also contributed to the development of Slovenia’s first national Strategy for the Internationalisation of Higher Education.
Katarina served for four years in the EAIE Expert Community for Internationalisation at Home and regularly leads training and professional development activities on IaH and IoC. She holds a PhD from the University of Ljubljana, with research focused on the internationalisation of the curriculum in higher education.
