Calls to decolonise internationalisation urge a critical, self-reflective approach to tackle inherent biases and power dynamics. This session features academic literature and case studies from Peru and Colombia to underscore local wisdom as ‘peer’ knowledge in equitable projects between the Global North and the Global South. Patricia Céspedes Sánchez is a Peruvian seasoned Senior International Officer with over 20 years of experience advancing internationalisation and creating value in higher education institutions in Peru and internationally. Currently, she is based in the United States and serves as the Chief International Officer at Reimagine Global Education. She is also a board member at AIEA - Association of International Education Administrators and Vice-Chair of the NGO América Solidaria Peru.
In addition to her leadership roles, Céspedes Sánchez is pursuing a Ph.D. at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy and is actively involved in consultancy work, guiding and empowering organizations and governments to develop robust, context-specific internationalization strategies and projects to enhance their global influence and impact. She holds an MBA from Tulane University, USA, and a Master's degree in International Business Management from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.

Sandra Guarín Tarquino is the vice president for International Affairs of Universidad del Rosario (UR). She has twenty years of experience in internationalization of higher education, international cooperation, leadership of partnerships and networks, glocal stakeholder connections, and project and grant management. She is co-founder of the Latin American Initiative for the Internationalization of Higher Education (INILAT), vice president of the Advisory Council of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), and chair of the NAFSA’s Latin America and Caribbean Forum, 2024. She was recognized by the Colombian Association of Universities (ASCUN) "For her committed, dedicated and generous leadership as National Coordinator of the Colombian Network for the Internationalization of Higher Education (RCI) between 2018 and 2022", and in 2024 received the RCI ASCUN Outstanding Contribution Award. She has served as consultant and lecturer in comprehensive internationalization, international cooperation, and non-state diplomacy. She holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations, a graduate degree in European Studies and a master’s degree in Management and Development Practice.
