Professor Martin Ward (PhD, Hiroshima) is Professor of Chinese and Japanese Translation at the University of Leeds, where he is also university lead for collaborative online international learning (COIL) and faculty lead for global campus experience in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures. As well as being a published translator of various books from Chinese and Japanese into English, he research and publishes on East Asian translation pedagogy and translation studies. Founder of the East Asian Translation Pedagogy Advance (EATPA) network and UNICOIL- The UK and Ireland COIL Network, he is committed to scaling up globally engaged learning experiences for students across all disciplines as well as supporting other colleagues and institutions to do the same. He initiated and leads the institutional-level approach to COIL at the University of Leeds (since 2023).São Paulo State University - UNESP, Brazil
Ana Cristina Salomão is currently Assistant Provost for International Affairs at São Paulo State University – UNESP, Brazil. She is professor at the Department of Modern Languages of the School of Sciences and Languages at UNESP and an accredited lecturer in the Postgraduate Program in Linguistics at the same institution, where she supervises research at Master’s and PhD levels. Her research interests include telecollaboration, virtual exchange, and intercultural communication. Since 2006, she has been actively involved in the Teletandem Brazil Project, a pioneering initiative in telecollaboration in Brazilian higher education, through which she has guided innovative practices of online intercultural language learning. She has published extensively on virtual exchange, including journal articles and book chapters, many of them in collaboration with researchers from the United States, the UK, France, Spain, and Taiwan. In partnership with the Brazilian Association for International Education (FAUBAI), Dr. Salomão co-created and launched the Brazilian Virtual Exchange Program – BRaVE in 2018, aimed at fostering international collaboration in higher education across Brazil. Since its inception, she has coordinated BRaVE-UNESP, supporting faculty members across UNESP’s 24 campuses to implement virtual exchange initiatives. She also works with FAUBAI to expand BRaVE as an institutional program across Brazilian higher education. Dr. Salomão is currently a board member of the International Virtual Exchange Consortium (IVEC), further strengthening her role in shaping global dialogues on international education, collaborative learning, and intercultural competence.Catholic University of Valencia, Spain
Beatriz has been leading the International Relations Office at the Catholic University of Valencia San Vicente Mártir, Spain, in the last eight years, having contributed to designing and implementing the Internationalisation Plan. Jitske has been working at Breda University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands for over 10 years. Throughout this time, she has held several roles, including managing housing for international students, coordinating outgoing exchange programs, and organizing events to promote internationalisation.
Currently, she is transitioning to a new role where she will be responsible for international relations and crisis management. Additionally, she is involved in the Alliance KreativEU.
West University of Timisoara, Romania
Andra-Mirona Dragotesc is the Director of International Relations at West University of Timișoara, the largest higher education institution in Western Romania. With over a decade of experience in management of internationalization processes in higher education, she oversees the activities of the Department for International Relations and is committed to mainstreaming internationalisation as a means to ensure inclusiveness and excellence in higher education and research. She has has extensive experience in managing projects and activities aimed at ensuring international experiences for all and increasing capacity building through internationalisation with all, principles she strongly believes in.
Beginning with 2020 she focused extensively on European Universities Alliances from two perspectives: as UNITA institutional coordinator for West University of Timisoara, UNITA being the European Alliance in which West University of Timisoara is a founding partner; and as coordinator of the working-groups of RO European Universities, a national network of (now 22) Romanian universities participating in the European Universities Initiative.
She is also a senior lecturer in the Department of Governance Studies at the same university beginning with 2024.
