This campfire session will explore inclusive leadership in international education through the lens of the employee life cycle, from recruitment to retention and progression. We will examine structural barriers affecting diverse professionals, particularly in accessing leadership roles, and highlight gaps in current talent development practices. The aim is to foster shared understanding and identify actionable steps to strengthen diversity in leadership across the sector.

Rosalyn Eder

Paracelsus Medical University, Austria

Rosalyn Eder is the Head of the International Office at Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg, Austria. She has more than seventeen years of experience in global higher education, and is a member of the EAIE’s thematic committee on social responsibility. Her research examines policy and practice in global higher education through the critical lens of social equity. She is in Globalisation and Education, Research Methods and Cross-Cultural Management.

Alejandra Vicencio

With more than 20 years of experience in leadership and the management of global mobility and partnerships, Ale is a seasoned presenter, speaker and consultant within the international education sector.

Ale participated in the Amity Institute Exchange Programme in South Carolina, been an academic of TESOL and Linguistics at Universidad Católica de Chile, and founded a Spanish immersion school in Santiago in 2008.

Ale has a Bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Chile and a Master’s in international development from Northumbria University, UK. She is passionate about internationalising higher education in a development context and its impact, and based her postgraduate research on this topic and the benefits of the BECAS Chile Programme.

Ale is currently an independent consultant, focusing on strategy development and internationalisation of higher education, particularly in the global south.

At EAIE, Ale has also been a mentor and Chair of the Mobility Advising Expert Community for the 2022 to 2024 term. She was also Co-Chair of the Risk Management Group at UUKi’s Outward Mobility Network from 2020 to 2022. Currently, she serves as Chair of the Student and Staff Mobility Thematic Committee.

On a personal level, Ale is a Trustee for the Scouts in the North East of England.

She has been involved with the EAIE since 2014 as a session evaluator, and an EAIE mentor for the last 5 years. Alejandra was elected as Chair of the Expert Community Mobility Advising for the 2022–2024 term and is currently the Chair of the Student and Staff Mobility Thematic Committee. She was also Co-Chair of the UUKi's Risk Management Group.
