Host institution

We wish to thank our host institution the University of Bordeaux in France for its generous support of the 2019 Spring Academy. 

The University of Bordeaux was newly established in 2014 following the merger of three universities. It welcomes 56,000 students, of which 6800 are international and almost 2000 are at PhD level. A leading, international, research university, it was one of the first universities in France to obtain confirmation of the 'Initiative of Excellence' label in 2016. This was awarded by the French government in recognition of its successful and innovative academic transformation. A total of 245 Master and 125 Bachelor programmes are offered within the domains of Science and Technology; Law, Political Science, Economics, Management; Health Sciences; and Human Sciences. Research is also multidisciplinary, covering the fields of Science and Technology, Life and Health Sciences, Social and Human Sciences.
