What you’ll learn

Those who think facilitating ‘cultural learning’ at their institutions is as easy as participating in mobility programmes or hosting international students should think again. Even the new Erasmus+ programme calls for accompanying cultural learning measures that go beyond merely assuring contact with a foreign culture. Through this hands-on course, you’ll learn how to create trainings that nurture the development of intercultural competence through proven learning styles, and you’ll design an activity you can actually implement at your own institution. With simulations and group activities grounded in theory and research, this course is really a cultural training of its own!

  • Design a cultural training activity for your institution or programme
  • Get a well-rounded view of cultural learning opportunities in pre-departure, in-country and re-entry phases
  • Become familiar with research-based cultural learning concepts (Kolb, Paige and Bennet) and assessment tools (emphasis on Intercultural Development Inventory [IDI])
