Researching and upscaling virtual exchange in university education

Virtual exchanges, also called collaborative online international learning (COIL), are online intercultural exchange initiatives that aim develop students' foreign language, digital and intercultural competences. This session provides an overview of the impact of virtual exchanges by presenting research studies funded by the European Commission that promote their use in university education. It also looks at the role of policy makers and how they can adapt these findings for policy development.
