Threats to academic freedom in Europe: a roundtable discussion

Academic freedom is pivotal to democracy and a cornerstone of any free society. Today this freedom is under attack from in several countries. Recent attacks on universities in Hungary, Russia and Turkey are the most prominent cases, but infringements of academic freedom are being reported elsewhere as well. This session will host a roundtable discussion on the state of academic freedom in Europe, analysing the general situation and looking at some cases of universities under pressure.
