Before leaving the baggage hall, be sure to pick up a free public transport ticket from one of the self-service stands. This ticket will be valid for 80 minutes and can be used for the train, bus, tram and mouette (yellow taxi boat). Additionally, all participants staying in a hotel or hostel in Geneva will receive a free public transportation card upon check in.
Geneva airport to Palexpo (conference centre)
The 2018 EAIE Conference and Exhibition will be held at Palexpo, located at Route François-Peyrot 30, CH-1218 Grand-Saconnex, Geneva, Switzerland.
Palexpo is a 10-minute walk directly from the airport and includes stairs to an overhead walkway across the motorway. A small lift is available as well.
Buses number 5 and 5+ take you to the front entrance of Palexpo in five minutes.
A taxi rank is located outside the arrival hall of the main terminal of Geneva International Airport. It will cost 30-36 CHF and will take about 10 minutes.
Geneva airport to city centre
Buses connecting to Geneva city centre run every 12 to 18 minutes. Buses number 5 and 10 will take you to the city centre to Cornavin or Bel-Air stations, respectively, in approximately 20 minutes.
The train requires a five-minute walk to the train station located underground next to the terminal building of Geneva International Airport departs every 12–20 minutes to the city centre (Gare Cornavin Central Railway Station). It takes six minutes to arrive at the city centre and all trains departing from the airport train station stop at this station.
A taxi rank is located outside the arrival hall of the main terminal of Geneva International Airport. The ride should take between 15 to 20 minutes to city centre. Fares between the airport and the city centre range from 35 to 45 CHF. Most taxis accept credit cards. Taxis can alternatively be ordered by phone (+41 22 331 41 33).

Palexpo to city centre
Buses number 5 and 5+ will take you to Gare Cornavin in about 20 minutes. You can use your free public transport ticket (receive this upon your hotel check in, please read below for more details) or you can buy a bus ticket for 3 CHF at the machine located just outside of Palexpo. Bus tickets are valid for the tram and the mouette genevoises (yellow taxi boats) for a duration of 60 minutes. Many machines in Geneva will take credit card payment, but not all of them.
All trains from the airport station (10 minute walk) stop at Gare Cornavin.
A taxi rank is available outside the front entrance of the Palexpo. Travel between Palexpo and the city centre takes between 15 and 20 minutes and fares range from 35 to 45 CHF. Most taxis accept credit cards, but it is advisable to check with the driver first.
Getting around in the city
By (free) public transport
You will receive a free public transport card if you are staying in a hotel in Geneva for the train, bus, tram and mouette (yellow taxi boat) for the duration of your hotel stay. If you don’t receive it from the front desk upon arrival, please ask for it. (Airbnb reservations do not include free transportation.)
Buses and trams run from 06:00–24:00, depending on the service.
The city centre is quite walkable, as it is possible to cross the city centre on foot in less than 30 minutes. Download a walking map of the city.
