Opening Plenary keynote speaker: Mary Robinson

Mary Robinson was President of Ireland from 1990-1997 and the first woman to serve in this post. She went on to serve as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 1997-2002, and then continued to promote human rights and corporate social responsibility as President and founder of Realising Rights: the Ethical Globalisation Initiative from 2002-2010. Her Foundation, the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice, established in 2010, came to a planned end in April 2019. Additionally, she served as Honorary President of Oxfam International from 2002-2012 and was Chancellor of the University of Dublin from 1998 to 2019. She is currently Adjunct Professor for Climate Justice in Trinity College Dublin and Chair of The Elders.

Mary will share experiences from her extraordinary career and provide insights into the international higher education field’s role in sparking meaningful conversations and making changes for the greater good of the world, especially when it comes to human rights and climate justice.
