Romy Smeding

What a wonderful opportunity to use the knowledge and skills that I have developed in the last 15 years as Head of Internationalisation at the School of Commerce and Entrepreneurship at Saxion University of Applied Sciences. I have managed many international projects and activities, such as international weeks and international symposia, while working with a partner network that has grown throughout the years. I was responsible for the internationalisation policy of different Saxion schools and have stimulated and facilitated internationalisation at home, for instance through the introduction and implementation of international competences in the curricula. It gives me great satisfaction to cooperate with colleagues in a team, connecting people both within and outside the organisation and working together on new international challenges. My international experience and network are also useful in my role as Senior Adviser for Partnerships and Recruitment at the university’s International Office. I am described as enthusiastic, proactive, decisive and reliable. By joining the General Council I can contribute to the further internationalisation of higher education and serve the association and its members.
